4JG2 Wizard Power Steering Belt - no A/C

Post by TimboTheKiwi »

Hi all,

I am remedying a few issues which the previous owner had tinkered with, one being the power steering pump belt. Currently there is 1 x 15A1170 on it - which is not only too wide but to short (its rubbing against the snout at the front of engine). The belt is only going around the crank and then to the pump (no A/C). My question is has anyone got the correct length of this belt without running the a/c? I went to Bnt and and they said I needed a 13A1450 (Dayco17570) however this is way to long. So I need something bigger than 1170 and (a lot) smaller than 1450.

Any ideas would be very much appreciated :)

Use a piece of string to measure the length then take it into BNT or whomever and get them to find a similar match. Supercheap Auto has a part listed for the PS belt w/o AC - DAYCO SPO4242201 or Calibre 344692 with 2 belts required.

If the engine was originally fitted with A/C and its has been removed I'm not sure if these belts will fit. It looks like they might rub on the P/S assembly. Also there should be 2 belts running the P/S pump.

Hope this helps somewhat.

When you remove the a/c pump best way is to run a idler pulley off a tf rodeo then the non a/c belt Wil fit and looks a lot tidier

Thanks polyarkos and isuzurob - appreciate the info.

Ill get some string to remedy my problem for the now, as I did get the recommended belt (with no a/c) and man it was looong. I will hunt me down a rodeo idler pully as rob suggested, that sounds like a good idea.
I wonder why they put 2 belts to run the p/s - seems a bit overkill to me - I wonder if I will get away with running 1 only...could be a very good reason for the 2 but I am fairly lazy and frugal haha.

Thanks again for the help :D
