Usually it draws more power when cold not when warm.

I would suspect the solenoid on the starter is getting hot and increasing the resistance.

Parts are replaceable. These also destroy the input shaft bearings.

Depending on what you want to spend it might be better to get a second hand box if you can find one that has been looked after that has less than 200ks on it

I would kill for a set of 4.8s!

The Pre 96 trucks usually don't have abs or air bags - neither of which you really want in an OFFROAD truck as it makes modifying them harder. Also 96 was the changeover year for the electronic pump which means you cant up fuel and boost for more power.

Is anyone making these for sale? I am about to reshell my truck and would be interested.
