hi there
looking at upgrading my exhaust
is it worth the extra hassle to change/fab a new bend right off the turbo or will I still get decent gains if I just renew it from the down pipe onwards
cheers
4jg2 exhaust
Re: 4jg2 exhaust
half your money and 10% of the gains are in that front pipe. If you want the ultimate do it but I wouldnt bother unless it has to be changed

I'm yet to understand why. The time to make a dump pipe vs making the rest of the exhaust is crazy.
It took me around an hour to have the dump pipe made. vs a whole day to make the rest of the exhaust.

plus that flexi joint etc.
Exhaust shops increase prices on stuff they dont want to do

Re: 4jg2 exhaust
Im planning to try keep it simple straight off dump pipe and along and out the side by rear wheel on swb so no door to worry about
Re: 4jg2 exhaust
I have just recently upgraded the whole system in my Mu (4jb1-t) and the results take the sting out of the cost!
If you go down the same road as me it cost $1200 for the exhaust - excluding the dump pipe. Dump pipe came from Australia at around the $200 mark... I removed the old system also to save some time on labour.
With that done it gives a nice sound but no major increase in power- that comes later with extra boost and fuel!
Once its all said and done I personally think its worth it- Ive only got a max Egt of 400dg with 1full turn of the fuel screw
And it has a heap more power. So room for more yet.

I did this. Its loud. There isn't enough space to get a muffler or anything of decent size to quieten it down until you get to around there the rear wheel is.
^^Assuming you mean in front of the rear wheel not behind.

Re: 4jg2 exhaust
i will run a hot dog of some description to quieten it down and see how it goes just going over the diff will be a pain in the ass
