Is 7.5km/l normal for a MU?

Post by yachtwork »

Hello all- Great info on this site. I just bought a second-hand 98 MU Wizard with the 4JG2 turbo engine with 340k on the odometer. It is clean without any leaks and starts right away and runs without any misses. It seems like a great find except for the fuel mileage. After a few tanks of fuel going through we pretty much seem to get about 7.5km per liter of fuel. One friend tells me that is great for a heavy vehicle and my Subaru Forester only gets 10km/l and it's much lighter so maybe he is right. My question to the group is what milage are they getting with their 4JH2's?

That sounds about normal for a 3.1 auto

Yep, the best I've got out of my Bighorn is only just over 7.5km/l on a trip, its usually in the mid 6's somewhere.

13l/100km is typical for a bighorn but wizard should be a little better. The 96 I had was 10 on a trip. Still a greedy engine
