Exedy GMK-6826HD clutch

Post by tonkamu »

http://exedydirect.com.au/GMK-6826HD-HOLDEN%20RODEO%20CLUTCH%20KIT

Anyone tried this clutch out with big 33x12.5 muddies is it a proper heavy duty clutch with increased clamp load compared to the standard clutch? I have an aussie lokka in rear diff which requires a lot of clutching on the road and big wheels, standard clutch wearing out fast.

I found a shop in auckland that sells the exedy HD clutch for $550ish nz.

I was also looking at a extreme outback heavy duty clutch that has 40% increase clamp load $700ish.

I wreaked 3 standard every clutches in a month fitted the above clutch and lasted just under a year, extreme I've herd good things about and clutch industries, yet to try them, next clutch kit going in is exedy 6puk clutch to cope with dirt water etc, also using a 4jh1 flywheel

What does the different flywheel do? Is it a heavier flywheel making it less prone to stalling? Does it bolt straight up? I might get one ready when I do the clutch, save me having to wait for machining my standard one.

Found a cheaper clutch on au ebay blusteele HD clutch https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Blusteele-HEAVY-DUTY-clutch-kit-for-HOLDEN-rodeo-TF-R9-2-8TD-TURBO-diesel-4JB1T/131656602590?epid=17004030818&hash=item1ea75853de:g:X9oAAOSwFGNWTo-W any good?

The clutch industries clutch R1031n-hd has some good reviews but its only 20% extra clamp load, the other brands are 40%. But then it says this clutch feels like a factory one which would be nice.

The exedy clutch is heavier to push and normally don't disengage the clutch properly so have to play with the pivot and modify it, 4jh1 or 3.1 have bigger diameter clutch plates which in turn can handle more power and torque

Could you shed more light on this? How did you modify the pivot and did you use the 2.8 exedy hd clutch or the 4jh1 mated to the 4jh1 flywheel. Do these flywheels fit straight on to the 2.8?
