Turbo upgrade

Post by polyarkos »

Hi All,

I've decided to go for a turbo upgrade. What supporting mods do I need on top of increase fueling, 3" exhaust, catch can, and an upgraded clutch? I'm aiming for a 50% increase in torque - roughly 400Nm.

Regards,

JP

Ring up Steve Murch about the turbo upgrade.
Once you sort that then you can get the dump pipe made, 3" is ideal.
2 3/4" or a full 3" exhaust system will be plenty.
A good air filter setup is often over looked and missed. Its not hard to sort a nice flowing setup to help the complete system breath.
Do you run an intercooler? If not then get one.
An egt gauge in the exhaust manifold will help when you turn up the fuel.

I've got egt and boost gauges installed along with a full 3" exhaust and had the injectors and pump reconditioned.

What do you think make a good airfilter set-up? The element or the housing and piping?

I have ordered one of these mamba td04hl-15t turbos for my tf rodeo. The compressor map for them looks good for an easy 200hp if you really wanted to turn the fuel up. I have a large fmic already and have moved the battery so the turbo sucks cold air straight from that side through a k&n filter inside an enclosure that has cold air ducted to it. The stock setup was bad, dragging the air through a long intake path plus over the motor to heat it up. I don't yet have an exhaust though so don't expect any max hp figures from me yet until I make something up at the end of the year.

Thanks, looks like I searched for "4jg2", "4jg2tc", "4jg2-tc" and "4jg2-t" before giving up ... which don't really find anything useful.

I'm looking forward to any feedback you have.
