Newer 4x4

Post by willyr »

Hey all. I'm looking at getting myself a newer truck. I've had great survice from the local holden shop so looking at a Colorado. The truck I'm looking at is a 2012 model. I've herd that these are very similar to the d-max of the same year is this the case? Also entertaining the idea of getting a rear diff lock installed when / if I go ahead with it. What's the deal with diff locks as in how many kms will they last for if most of my driving it on the road and only a small amount off road where the locker will be used?

As far as I know there is little difference between the early dmax and colorado.
Air locker is just sitting doing nothing when not in use. Should be no wear

The colorado has minor issues but nothing that cant be fixed, they are a good truck, the rear diff should have a good lsd in it so if you are going offroad, fit freewheeling hubs on the front and fit a locker to the front diff

i would buy one in a heart beat if i had money to throw away, the 07-09 had gearbox noises which required the gearbox being pulled apart and a new oiler fitted, the egr pack up, the S.C.V in the injector pump plays up, airflow meters, have done 1 turbo, standard clutches are weak if you 4wd alot, the electronic transfer case can cause issues of not engaging 4x4 etc, as i said i would still buy one over any other ute on the market, highest k one ive seen is 690,000km so far

I walked in to wodsco yesterday arfta a older higher spec model that they had in but drove out in a ex demo base model 2015. Haven't completed the sale yet but I'm super stoked. It's manual not the auto that they were trying to sell me and only has 2500km on it. As I've Pritty much maxed my self out here I'm worried if there are any hidden experiences around the corner that I should be aware of? They say it's good for 15000km between survice but it's only 2500km in and the dash tells me the oil is at 69% life left if that's the case I'm up for oil change at about 8000km which is a service because part of the warranty is they or someplace similar do all the work I think. I'll hit them up about it today. Do you work in a holden / isuzu garage Isuzu Rob?

Also do you think my isuzu wheels will fit the Colorado? I'll take them off to try soon but they might be a different PCD or offset.

Thank you for that. Was 2010 the last year of that good model? Glad I haven't signed anything!
