West Aussie MU
West Aussie MU
Gday guys, new WA MU owner, just bought 90 Mu 2.8 diesel turbo and need some info,i owned a petrol Frontera a couple of yrs ago and miss it so swapped this for my old AU fairlane, clutch master cyl shot but will sort it out in the next couple of days, have driven it but 3,4,5th gears are noisy can anyone tell me if the petrol gearbox is the same or if Rodeo is the same ,i only ask this as early 4x4 rodeo apparently had different boxes between diesel and petrol( re-bellhousing bolt pattern) so was wondering if this practice is still in play or have they just used 1 box for all as i may have to source a replacement g/box from somewhere, thanks John
Re: West Aussie MU
Different bell housing diesel has starter motor on passenger side petrol is drivers side.
Re: West Aussie MU
Thanks stardog,i havent had a good look underneath yet but i assume the bellhousing is integrated with the main casing or is it able to be unbolted from main g/box housing?cheers John
Re: West Aussie MU
Gearbox housing and bell housing are one piece.
Petrol and diesel gearbox internals may be able to be swapped?
Petrol and diesel gearbox internals may be able to be swapped?
Re: West Aussie MU
Thanks turnturn will check everything this weekend, may just be easier to find complete box out of a Jackeroo(so im told),John
Re: West Aussie MU
diesel jackeroo or rodeo would be the easiest option but the Mu has a remote shifter that has to be swapped over. Ive heard its easy but also heard its not
Re: West Aussie MU
rodeo and mu gbox are identical, 2.8bighorn gbox will fit with the remote shifter, shifter easy to swap only 4 bolts
