cuttin front guards 4 33s 12.5 tyres

Post by MUVIT »

just got a spare set of Mu front guards 2 chop up 4 clearance 2 fit 33s. Has any1 got pics of how much they trimed off. Dumy fitted some goodyear wranglers 33 12 .5 & the mudflap just about ripped the guard off reversin out of driveway. Mu has bodylift & suspensiom lift.

the panel beaters did a 20mm trim on mine, mainly the back and refitted the original plastic flares, can't tell the difference. Apparently the tricky spot is at the bottom of the A pillar the seam extends out into the guard abit

Panel beater flattened the seam as much as possible and cut the guard back to match on mine.

Straight section in front of doors, before wheel arch is about half the length it used to be.

I run 33 12.5 with very little rubbing. I use 15x8 landcruiser wheels

33x12.5xr15
15x8 wheels with -28 offset (landcruiser offset)

Just passes certification without fender flares.
Although I have had to limit my steering lock to prevent the tyre rubbing on the chassis under suspension compression.

not worried about lettin it stick outside the guard, as il stick the 31's on for town use. As i didnt get 2 drive it with 33's yet , im guna throw some silly questions out there. 1: how much power do u lose? Will i stil be able 2 tow a 5.3m boat? 2: will the tailgate door handle a 33 as a spare tyre? 3: will i have 2 go 2 more comp style wheel stud? 4: with the extra height form the 33 would it pay to back the torsion bars a bit 2 try & level out the cv's

1. Yea, with steel rims, 33" mud tyres and tubes vs. my old All-terrains on alloys, big drop in power. Still can cruise on motorway happy enough though, just got to get some momentum for the hills! Towing a boat... it'll do it, just unsure of how slow it'll be going.

2. Tailgate is fine with 33x12.5 spare.

3. Standard wheel studs are fine for steel rims and most alloys. Only the really thick 4x4 alloys would need longer studs.

4. 2" lift, front locker, and 33" tyres has been fine for me, haven't broken a CV yet. Anything over 3" i'd be worried, and and want to lower it a little or do the diff drop (or solid axle swap!)
