'96 wizzard/rodeo - park lights, tail lights, dash lights an

Post by Captcol »

As above, I have just bought a new to me isuzu and its a great truck to drive, except at night or when backing up

I have assumed that the park/tail/dash lights are the same problem. I have no power at the bulbs for park or tail and I have tested the plug on the side of the transmission tunnel under the passenger seat and no power there either. I have replaced all the internal fuses and the fuses in the engine compartment look sweet.

Could this be a relay issue, there seems to be 2 relays missing from the engine box eb21 and eb27 no idea if they are not there because the options are not on this truck or if they have been removed. There may have been spots on before and someone has borrowed the realy when they sold them.

I can not find any fuse box diagrams in english or any wiring charts for this part of the truck.

The reverse lights I assume is the sensor but I have no idea where this is.

Any help would be appreciated

Is there power at the switch.
I can send you a manual but the wiring diagram is hard to read

I am going to use pins on the wires at the switch tomorrow, the weird thing is that the head lights work. The manual would be very useful I was about to start hunting for one

well I have some findings. I have 12.46 volts going into the switch, on park nothing comes out and on lights about 0.6 volts comes out. I can't see anyway to dismantle the switch section insitu so might pull the whole assembly out and see if i can give it a squirt of something as the switch still has the clicks it must be the contacts.

No update on the reverse lights issue, but it does take a few seconds after being in gear for the beeper to start and the dash light to show so the reverse lights may come on then, will check now.

Cheers

Right so I have tried to pull the switch out ...

If I am going to replace the unit then I need to remove it right? well the problem is that it forms a full loop around the steering coloum and the only way to sort that is to remove the steering wheel which i believe has an airbag inside it ... where to from here?

Ive got your address and will run off a cd of the manual and post hopefuly tomorrow. There are special instructions for the airbag. If it goes off while you are trying to remove it it could kill

Right got the manual today, spent 5 hours tracing the problem, couldn't work it out and then noticed some relays behind the drivers kick panel, as it turns out, the relay second from the top looks after park, dash and tail lights ..... bloody thing, 14 dollars later, sorted. Its not like I cooked all the insulation off a wire by shorting the switch to test or took half the truck to pieces before noticing these relays or anything.

And mysteriously my reverse lights seem to work more often now, the started working intermitently last coupla days, so we will see if they still work tomorrow.

Thanks for your help

The next chapter, the reverse lights, dash reverse indicator, and reverse beeper will work once the engine is warm, but doesn't work at cold start, any ideas?
