tire upgrade
tire upgrade
Hi there I have a 1997 3.1 diesel bighorn on 245/70r16 tires I spend 95 % on road and 5 % on the beach what are your thoughts on going to 265/70r16 tires. I'm considering Michelin LTX Force. please advise if going up in size is going to make it handle better or worse on the road...thank you
Re: tire upgrade
On road you might notice a slight performance drop but its likely it will be unnoticeable on road unless you drive at the limit. Speedo will be lower and closer to accurate. For beach the extra width will certainly help and the AT pattern should work well but dont expect great things if you decide to head into mud. These are about 31 inch Going to a 75 profile will give you 32 inches a near spot on speedo and an extra inch under the diffs.
I always thought Michelin were expensive tyres

Re: tire upgrade
Hey Geeves thank you for your fast reply. I have been driving Isuzu wizards for the last 15 years, they handle heaps better than my Bighorns do so I'm looking to get the best on road handling I can (I don't speed around I just like to get the best handling possible) I have put in new KYB shocks, springs and new rotors and even running the same Bridgestone tires so the big question is Michelin or BFGs and what size to get 245/70r16 or 265/70r16, given the choice what would you guys do????
Re: tire upgrade
BFGs aint what they used to be. I would avoid them. Today they are a cheap tyre at an expensive price. When I had a wizard with a similar usage I put a Maxis AT tyre on and it was great. Under 200 a tyre as well
