First link has a short vidio that starts with a pic of a very frozen looking bighorn. I though in another post I cant find now there might also be a Mu.

Anyone doing a trip report on this adventure?

I've been over there before. Like most of the Central Otago/Southland hills it can get pretty miserable relatively quickly, even in summer.
Apart from maybe not taking enough caution with the weather it doesn't seem like they were a bunch of Muppets or anything. Rasonable vehicles, and numbers, with reasonable equipment. Just got unlucky.

Two of the girls form my work place were there stuck in the snow and had kids, and yes there was a MU, and according to her, it had something happened to 4 4 and was only running on two wheels, sadly according to her Mu was the worse of it..

Just saw on the news, The council and Police declined them to go up and grab the trucks, they arranged Bulldozer and helli. That's bizarre.

Council was worried about safety and damage to the road. Twas a fair call.
