injector pump 4jg2t

Post by stardog »

I have been told there are 3 different type of injector pumps that fit on these engines is that true and they have different numbers on the side of them does this make any difference to the timing cogs on the timing belt teeth or marks.

On my wizard the numbers didnt match the pump they had built as a swap so this could be true but as to the differences I dont know. I would expect timing marks to be correct for all pumps

When I took the mu with a 4jb1t out of a 1996 rodeo over to a diesel place last year.
I asked about the price on a 4jg2t injector pump and injectors in case I wanted to sell the ones I had spare they told me there are 3 different pumps that go on these engines and would need the numbers off the pump.
The pump on the engine on the wizard looks different to the original pump that was on the engine that I sold to ben to get reconditioned and shipped to Darwin.

Took the wizard over to diesel place yesterday got them to install the new injectors I had and install the new injector pump and time it.
They rang me today put in the new injectors and adjusted the old pump said its running sweet as now and don't waste a brand new pump unless I would like them to fit it.
I will pick it up tomorrow morning also said injector lines where installed wrong from the pump to injectors that's why it kept smoking again when I thought I had it running good.

I would be curious to know what they say was wrong with your injector lines. From sounds of it I might have a simular problem and would be nice to know what to check.

Just picked the wizard up with the new injectors installed and they also done compression test all good there and done the tappets and timing on the injector pump.
Reconnected fuel lines properly bad news turbo is passing oil and noisy when it warms up and starts to blow white smoke.
Good news is it is running a hell of a lot better and I have a spare turbo so I will install that on it and that should fix it the diesel shop said to me if not bring it back to them to have a look at it.

smoke smells of oil?
Might just be gummy rings and should clear with a long run with any luck
