Injectors - clean or renew

Post by burgundy1990 »

Hi everyone
I have a Jackaroo 1990 4JB1T. I have just had my injectors sonic cleaned and the nossles and pressure faces polished. They had done 200,000 KMS. I immediately experienced a LOSS of power and have been subsequently told that cleaning the nossels can be a waste of money and I should have just replaced them. I know many other things can cause of loss of power but nothing else was changed at that time. Has anyone had the same experience??

could be air in them but that should pass fairly quickly. Did they pressure test them? At 200k they will be near end of life but that would be determined by smoke as well as loss of power. If its not smokeing then injectors are not worn out. They may be out of adjustment though. Also they may of knocked off the hose between the injector pump and inlet just after the turbo. This hose tells the pump how much boost is there so the pump can supply enough fuel.No hose = not much fuel or power.

The waste gate was adjusted on the turbo, and the throttle travel increased, and the improvement in power was amazing.
Many thanks Geeves.
