did you unplug the tps???

if it makes no difference then the ecu is probably already in limp home mode, indicating a faulty sensor somewhere.

i remember one of my falcons would run fine, then ever now and then it would idle really rough and nearly stall. turned out it was a faulty crank angle sensor putting the ecu in limp home mode and stalling it because it was coilpack and was just guessing when to fire.

your rodeo has a dizzy so i wouldn't expect you to have this problem.

Does it have an air flow sensor? Sometimes these need cleaned.
Perhaps a vacuum leak?

Hi Guys,
well I visited the mechanic last Friday. He had a test drive and acknowledged that it was gutless and surging, and he thought it was probable injectors.
We put his fuel pressure tester onto the engine and it read out as fine.
We plugged in his diagnostic equipment and got some readings from the exhaust regarding the mixture.
At idle it was reading rich, but with increased revs it was running lean. Also there was a very small reading for unburnt fuel, which he said would back up his guess on it being injectors.
We played around with the mixture,initially going lean and then richer, and neither setting affected the readout with the increased revs.
We did have it running a bit better with a richer mix at idle and increased air flow at the idle screw, so that was beneficial.
I have booked the car in with him for next Thursday for the injectors to be done, and I will post after that the results.
I was very disappointed with Holden after sending them an email to customer service asking for the technical info on the correct values for the TPS and the correct way to adjust it. Below is their reply :-

Not only do they not help with technical info, they send you off to another company for the manuals they should be providing. Great service.!!

The TPS is just a switch not a sensor. So it is eather on or off

There is a post on here somewhere that links to a website with very good instructions for testing the tps

really??? why call it a tps?? why not call it a throttle switch??
