Gday all, just bought a 2002 Equip for $150. Hasnt been used for 2 years. Lady didnt use it because she couldnt afford new tyres! She said it was going when she stopped using it. Tried starting after putting fuel and battery in it, turns over, fires randomly but wont start. Im thinking i should have drained the tank first. Could i have damaged the injectors.? Have a bloody haines manual but it doesnt cover the 3.5. Fuel squirts out of the fuel rail test valve so cant see why it wont at least start.

PS, The car is in mint condition, no rust , everything works so i thought id take a punt

PPS, have meknik mate coming over tomorrow with a scanner

$150 is hardly a punt. Even if it never works you will get 10 times that at a wreckers.
Things I would look at injectors spark plugs timing belt etc. Try squirting some easy start down the intake to see if it will run on that

Update, any fuel injected vehicle sitting for over a year, drain all old fuel before starting. Ask me how i know!
