Heavy duty spec alternators?

G'day all

I seem to have a habit of destroying alternators on my 4JG2 bighorn. My current one is 3 weeks old and died today after just 2 off-road trips

I still need to rip it out and see what's gone wrong this time (hopefully just clogged up), but it seems to be crazy to need to do this so often and having to drive hours home just on the battery (fine in daytime, not at night)

Are there any better spec alternators built for these trucks around, or can we only get just the generic Repco type ones that I'm running rather unsuccessfully?

Strangely enough I seem to be going through starter motors quite a bit as well...

Stay out of the mud. Alternator in my wizard wasnt new when I bought it 5 years ago and has never missed a beat
If its just mud and it hasnt eaten the insides out it should be an easy fix

I have a Bosch 120A alternator that is a swap out - has been drowned a number of times but comes back fighting better than the stock item - not sure why they are placed so low. If u don't want the aircon you can remount higher. - Can't read the Bosch model number anymore but should be googleable.

does it have the vacum pump on the back or do you fit the current hitachi one?
