Can any members give me some places to explore, points of interest & camp in the Vic & NSW High Country.
Going down there over the Christmas break.

Things around sydney:
-Watagans
-Blue Mountain
-Zigzag Railway (Clarence NP)
-Mt walker (Lithgow)
these are all within 1-2hrs of Sydney.
I've always been interested in doing some long tracks through the snowy mountains during summer. would be an excellent trip.

Don't know about being in high country over Christmas but will be on Sydney Harbour watching the start of the Sydney to Hobart on a 34 meter charter boat
Being serious go down Thunderbolts Way Walch to Barrington lovely drive and a couple of free camps on the way down.

From Canberra, head out through the Brindabellas and head down to Blue Waterholes in Long Plain, then head on down to Ravine (on the Yarangabilly river) I camped at Clover Flat on the Cabramurra/Khancobin road earlier in the week on the way back from my hols, nice spot.
To get into Victoria, cross the Murray at Tom Groggin and then take the Mount Pinibar road, which will eventually get you to Omeo.
Depending on the timeing, I might be able to act as guide to get you through Canberra and into the mountains.

OK - put up some dates when you know them & we will see what we can work out.
I am out of the loop Christmas Eve, Christmas Day & Boxing day for family stuff, otherwise no commitments at the moment, and work should be pretty slack between then and new year so I can take some time out.

These are rough guide.
We are leaving the Gold Coast on the 19th of Dec, heading for Bathurst

then on to Canberra to go through the War Museum.
We have to be in Frankston for Christmas & Boxing day so we have about 4 days to explore the High Country on the way down. From Frankston we are going to Phillip Island

, then back into the High Country for another 6 days of exploring.
Cheers David

Thanks MUsterious1,
Picked that camping guide book up from my local map supplier, when i was there i purchased the Australian Alps N/P touring map. It covers all the High Country, great little map. Also have High Country Victoria from Hema, it's more a toppo style map & synthetic.
Looks like we are going direct to Frankston, then into the High Country via Mansfield for 2 weeks exploring.
Looking forward to this one.
Cheers David
