Please help for a quick solution.. (1992 Mu)

The last few days it has been raining and i noticed a damp smell in the car so i gave it a once over and found water under the carpet in the boot. I had a couple towels in the panel where my jack stays and they were saturated. . im guessing the water is comming in through the rear side window seals.

It seems someone has done a bad job of sealing the windows with silicon.. there is a little rust around the windows too. .

Whats the best way for me to stop the water getting through??

Should i be pulling out the old silicone cleaning it and redo it? whats the correct product to use?

any help would be great

proper way would be take the windows out fix the rust then reinstall with new seals. Chances are its the rust causing the problem.
Alternate fix is remove the carpet and drill a couple of holes so the water can get out.
Also check the drain holes in the bottom of the side panels If these block then you get what you describe

drain plugs were blocked.

Will i have to get a professional to do the windows?

has anyone removed them and reinstalled them before?

How have you got on with this? I too get water in the left rear boot. In fact I'll need to patch the floor as it's got some holes in it since I tidied it up with a wire wheel.

I've had the R/R window out for rust repairs, got a windscreen guy round to do it, he broke it getting it out. Luckily he replaced it. Seems they can be quite tricky to get out at times.

Mr Revhead, You said you paid a windscreen guy to remove the windows for you.. What did he charge?

Bugger all as he was the guy we use at work.
I think it was about $80. He broke it as well but replaced it
