HeaterFan Control

The heater fan control in my Mu (1992) is failing.
Initially I just lost the first two speeds (of four) but now have just lost the third.
Can anyone tell me what controls this and where it is situated?
I'm guessing that it some sort of resistor pack tucked away somewhere and thought that someone could point me in the right direction.

No idea where it actually is but they are usually around the fan barrel area as they need the air flow to keep em cool..

The resistor block is on the white box under the glove box

Gidday Fellas,
I had a look at this yesterday.
For anyone else with the same problem it is easiest to get to this part by removing only the glovebox, which is quite easy to get out.
I had removed quite a few other things before I realised this.
To remove the glovebox, remove plastic hinge pins from inside glovebox. Easy to do with a pair of pliers and brute force.
Glovebox then comes out with a bit of persuasion with a screwdriver.
Resistor block is then easy to get to. Held in by two philips (or possibly posi-drive) headed screws. You may need a stubby (preferably ratcheting) screwdriver.
The connector block includes the usual springy catch arrangement to remove it from the heater unit.
It would be nearly impossible to remove this item without going through the glovebox opening.

Good photos Bruce, When mine gave up, I took it into Holden and they said there was 2 that it could be, and they both had to be ordered in, and if it wasn't the right one then i would still have to pay for it!!! I got a later model one out of a bighorn or wizzard that is a newer and better design, but the wires are arranged differently. Sorry I can't tell you what year or model. I had to re-wire the plug which was alot of trial and error, but its working good now.

Strangley enuff thats not the heater. Thats the air conditioning box. The actual heater is the next box along to the right (middle of the dash). And the fan blower is to the left of this. I only no this because I took my aircon out ages ago but left that bit in my truck. I only got round to pulling it out last weekend. What a mission!!!!! If anyone is going to take theres out for repair or removal be aware that there is a 12mm nut above the center of that box against the firewall. AND you need small hands and a good socket extention to get in there.

The resistor is mounted in here to help keep it cool, as they develop alot of heat when in use.

Hi guys my mu has the same problem only works on full speed tried local auto shops they all said have to go to holden spares haven't had a chance yet just wondering about the price of these anyone know roughly the cost for a new one.
