EGR Removal

This is for a 2.8, 5 speed manual 4JB1-T Isuzu MU.
I cannot confirm if the 3.1's or the auto's are the same. Also if you have an intercooler it could be slightly differant. Someone here will know.

The first step is to get the plates and new bolts to block the holes left after removal of the EGR valves and the studs.

Next step is to remove the EGR valves and the exhaust return pipe running across the top of the motor at the rear.

Remove the studs as well if they havn't already come out.

Use high temp exhaust sealer and bolt the exhaust plate over the hole left from the pipe.

Also use a sealer when placing the plates over the holes left by the EGR valves.

Once all that is done you can start to remove the small vac hoses being careful not to damage them as some of it will be used in the next step.

You need to run a length of vac hose from the fuel pump

to here.

Last thing to do is block the small vac hose off the back of the altinator and its done.

If you like you can remove all the valves and mounting brackets in the corner of the engine bay. You can just leave the plugs there or push them back through the grommet in the firewall.

Hope this helps someone.

Awesome cheers, I think the auto must have some extra piping in there, and I probably would have missed the fuel pump one so good work that man

Turnturn: No I removed that as well. I no longer have air conditioning in my MU I use the air con pump as an air compressor. It makes very little diffearance when driving and I just use the idle control when sitting still.

Made them my self. I have 2 sets left if anyone wants some. They not as fancy as some on here but they work a treat.

THanks mate, exactly what I needed. Just one question, whats the purpose of removing them all?

Do you gain power, and if so, does that cost in economy?
Also, is there anything which needs to be adjusted after removal, like re-tune or something?

Thanks again, great stuff!

I don't think you gain any extra power from removing the EGR valves. I could be wrong. I got rid of them for the room to put my second battery there.

I never needed to re-tune anything once they where gone.

And I also don't have to look at those silly tiny hoses. :)

If EGR is working properly it shuts off at full throttle
