I got the 4jx1 back from HMC today. The mechanic put a newer brand oil in which he says he runs through his late model diesels. It's a 5w40. It's starting first pop unlike before.

also flushed diesel from radiator, flushed water from diesel tank and lines, replaced injector sleeves with full sleeve replacement kit and replaced loom with full loom kit.

Yes water had reveresed it's way back into the diesel tank.. most people experience water and diesel coming out the water overflow.

She's running like a dream now. For how long... I'm not sure, but HMC are doing the servicing as long she's running this well.

7.5 litres of oil cost $176.00. Not cheap!

it's Havoline Fully Syn 5w40 Dexos 2 Low SAPS. Pretty sure I'm meant to have 5w30 tho. My oil light came on and stayed on for over 5mins until I rollded forward a few metres and it went off. Is this oil to heavy?

On the worksheet they have provided me it also says my car is a 3.1DT. which it's not.. It's a 3.0TD.

Get then to change oil again?

thats fine as oil except the price tag
They make full synthetics in 5w40 but not semi synthetics and mineral oils. The reasons are the additives but to explain further would take a year of study on google. It is rocket science

Thanks! I will do more research on prices. And I've found a few mechanics around the area who know more about 4JX1's.
