And the above is one of them. I have done similar with metal epoxy on a rwd conversion I did. I don't think I would be comfortable doing either on my truck... Knowing how remote I go and how rough I am.
I've got a guy tee'd up to tig it once I have the box out and split

Re: Regan's Moo
Yeah bearing in mind our ones a trailer truck, so not a priority thing for us to pull the box and weld haha
Re: Regan's Moo
If its just punched a hole in an alloy casing it could easily be ok. If however the hole affected a structural part of the box then the gears could now be miss aligned and very soon there will be another hole in it Bashed from the inside.
Ive had that once in a Vauxhall viva. Dont drop the clutch in reverse when its got one wheel stuck on a wall. It belonged to a flatmate many decades ago and I had borrowed it. Cost me $40 for a new gearbox and 2 hours lieing on a gravel driveway changing it working by an old 40w bulb type work light. It was also raining a little. Vauxhall Viva gearboxes are lighter than Isuzu diff heads by a large margin

I'm hoping its alright. I did drive it a good few hundred meters to the road. Sometimes its easier to drive it out than get towed.

Re: Regan's Moo
The Viva was driven home as well despite all the oil haveing followed a gear tooth out of the box. It wouldnt stay in reverse though.
Good luck. If bogging up the hole works its a cheap easy fix and there isnt much to lose. If you take it out to weld it up you get the chance of checking out the inside at the same time and if its dodgy just getting another box.

Re: Regan's Moo
Decent dent Is it just casing or is their something structural on the inside?
Re: Regan's Moo
As per the Original Posters question several replies above, the new universals from BNT will be greaseable.
The ones they used to sell had the grease nipple going into the centre of the cross.
The new ones (a different brand) have the grese nipple on one of the bearing caps.
The original Isuzu universals on the front driveshaft don't generally have a grease nipple on them, just one on the spline.

It looks worse in the photo that it actually is. Which is ideal for me. I have gone and got a BNT replacement. It'll be on the road tonight all going well.

Bloody hell that's an effort
Downside to an alloy box I guess. This reminds my trucks due a grease
