Cheers guys
I just had a check and the outer boot moves with axle in-out as if not properly connected to hub (prob less then 10mm on second look), hopefully just circlip then, I'll have a look when fitting new inner boot, probably worth doing both hub seals then at same time then!?
With needle roller am I just checking for free spinning bearings and obvious wear?
Thanks again

Part Number 20 (Mu part number 8-94438-650-2, probably the same as Bighorn) is the bearing...From memory it can be a bit hard to inspect while fitted to hub and hard to remove without damaging it. Look for damage on your CV stub where it runs in this bearing.
The seal used to be a two-piece item but I think that it is now a one-piece.

finally replaced the inner cv boot and the play disappeared

what a fun job that was cant wait to do it again
I did notice when I slid the axle out of hub what looked like a needle bearing in the back of hub looked rooted, whats the easiest way to remove/replace?
got to love 4wd's I fixed a couple of things but noticed 3 more things that need replacing.. typical!!

tap the bearing out with a long punch and use a socket to tap it back in be gentle as they are easy to damage, genuine are around 8 dollars i have new spares at home

in turnturns picture above its no 20 It would be silly not to do the thrust washer 13 and seal 19 at the same time unless they have been done recently.

i think you have to replace the seal anyway to get the bearing out and thats why the needle roller bearing gets damaged from dirt and water getting in there past the seal

sweet I'll replace them all together then and double check wheel bearings at the time, whats the easiest way to replace them? is it unbolt both ball joints to drop hub assembly then pull the axle out of the back so I can pull out seal and bearing or do I have to go in from the front?
cheers

3 ball joints. Remember the tie rod
