93 Mu exhaust replacement - 4jb1-t

Post by SamMu93 »

Hi, I've opened a can of worms with my latest mod, installing a new exhaust on my 93 Mu and after a long search I found a 3" dump pipe new for $175. This was great until I started installing it.
What I need now is to remove the old studs that held the last dump pipe on as they are too long
Replace the oil filter housing with one from a bighorn 3.1 4jg2...
Looks like the dump pipe I got will need to be cut shorter so a 2.5" bend can be welded in.

That's it so far...

Stud removers ain't dear or you can just use two nuts locked on the stud two remove the stud. If the studs are two tight i would just drill the thread out of some old nuts and pack the studs out just like thick washers

Tried the two nut trick, even gave it a go with 3! No luck there. Might need to heat it up or I might try to thread the rest of the stud and cut the excess off.
This is with some nut spacers...

I just ordered the 2 1/2 full system off lukey exhausts for my rodeo, the dump pipe you brought removes the cat on the 4jh1, also there is more room around the firewall of the ra rodeo, a oil filter setup of a 4jb1-t 98 onwards rodeo will fit your engine also

The dump pipe removes the cat on the 4jh1? Are you talking about the quick warmup valve in the origional dump pipe?
Ill have to try and find a picture of tue 98 onward rodeo oil filter housings- need one the has the oil filter pointed down unlike my current one

I found an aerosol product called "P B Blaster" to be a better product than CRC when recently removing some exhaust manifold studs (the same ones as you are dealing with).
