Mate if your going to use a rooftop tent then rivets alone wont cut it.
I have a tent on mine. I am up to V3 of my roof rack development. I had to replace rivets with bolts and metal straps on the inside of the roof between the roof lining and the roof. The rivets just pulled out.
I see if I can find some photos of mine for you.

This is version 1 of my rack. Riveted onto the roof, lasted 3 months, then pulled out. I don't have photoes of V2 or V3 yet. V4 is about to be started so I try and get photos of them.

Re: Isuzu mu - winch, bulbar, lifted, MUDs
Not too many white ones around either....
Re: Isuzu mu - winch, bulbar, lifted, MUDs
cheers muzila for the heads up. MINT MU by the way!
I wondered weather the rivets would be up to hold up the weight. Was planning on bolting it through the roof when the time comes.
Maybe just have to go easy on late night tent action.

Re: Isuzu mu - winch, bulbar, lifted, MUDs
hey what size wheels are you running ie. 15x8 ?? and what offset?? cheers
Re: Isuzu mu - winch, bulbar, lifted, MUDs
Hey thanks guys.
Slighty, na I wasn't in it when it popped the rivets lol. I was putting the cover on when it popped one back corner out of the roof. Just tighed it down till I got the tent off and made a new rack.
Its not as white and clean nowa days. and got a few dents. About to get a total rebuild and some new trick stuff as soon as I finished rebuilding the car.
I have only seen one other white one.
The rims are 15 x 8 with we think a -4 offset. they where for a hilux originally. The guy didn't like them after he ordered them. I just happened to be In the right place at the right time and got all 5 for less than 2 hundy brand new.

Hey guys. Have been playing with the truck a lil more now that im on University holidays.
I have relocated the winch solenoid to under the bonnet.
Installed a dual Battery kit. - relocating all the necessary stuff.
Rewired and relayed all my toys. Looks alot tidier now and trouble shooting is alot easier.
Heavy Duty Tie rod arms with HD tie rod ends. (I love the things)
Wheel bearings and lower ball joints.
I have also installed a 16 inch thermo fan. I need to install a temp gauge to see what the water temp is actually doing.
I have also after much time on the phone to america and the car on the hoist have reduction gears installed. Keen to hit some tracks and test them out!
Looking at building some rock sliders at the moment. Going to do them a little differently. Might even make a build thread with the idea
Thats enough maintenance for now. Next is to hit some tracks!
