I had a similar problem, turns out the foward gear clutch was constantly engaged, one tiny ball bearing had fallen out of place (pressure relief i believe) and was stopping the piston cylinder from disengaging.

Got a auto 93 mu, LOTS of gear selector play.
Anyone ever replaced the bushes?
Had a quick look in there, scratched my head, re-assembled and just put up with it.
