Use a VSR - the batteries will automatically link when the starting battery voltage gets over 13.5, and drop off under 12.8. Benefit is you are charging the starting battery up a bit first before connecting the second battery.

1996 EFI Bighorn. Short glow time when engine warm is an age old issue. I looked high and low - thought about putting in relays to fool the temp sensor that the engine was cold etc etc. Ended up putting in a relay with a push button in the plastic fascia below the dash that connects the battery to ...

I have a Bosch 120A alternator that is a swap out - has been drowned a number of times but comes back fighting better than the stock item - not sure why they are placed so low. If u don't want the aircon you can remount higher. - Can't read the Bosch model number anymore but should be googleable.
